Mower racing Sunday

MOWER racing enthusiasts will get ready to start their engines as the Bundy Turfburners event heats up this weekend.

The races are set for Sunday with organisers hoping residents will view the unique sport.

Bundy Turfburners mower racing organiser Harry Samberson said the popularity of the emerging sport was increasing and the friendly atmosphere remained.

“There are a few blocks that spend heaps of money, but it’s all about getting a cheap mower and doing it up for some fun,” Mr Samberson said.

The Turfburners will start their engines and race across their local ground on Moorlands Road.

Organiser Julie Samberson said the event made between $1500 and $2000 for local children’s charities.

The event will run between 10am and 2pm.

People are asked to follow the signs along Moorlands Road to find the venue.
