Motor inn held up at knifepoint

A MAN was knocked unconscious during an alleged armed robbery at the Alexandra Park Motor Inn last night.

Just before 7pm yesterday, an offender allegedly entered the Quay Street motel, and threatened the male attendant with a knife.

“The attendant tried to defend himself with a chair and retreat, but he was assaulted and lost consciousness,” a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said.

Within minutes of the alleged attack, a manhunt was launched with dog handlers and detectives from Bundaberg Police scouring the parkland near the motel.

The victim was taken to Bundaberg Hospital where he was treated for a cut to his head.

About 10pm yesterday, a 17-year-old man was charged with armed robbery, and will appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court.
