Mother confronts man accused of shooting pet cat
A SIPPY Downs mother whose pet cat was shot with an arrow has confronted the man accused of firing the fatal shot.
Renee Carr had built a close relationship with her cat Slash after rescuing him from an RSPCA shelter about five years ago.
"He was just like one of the children," Miss Carr said.
She was shattered when she arrived home from shopping on August 20 to find Slash had been shot through the neck and chest.
A neighbour had called her to warn her Slash had been killed.
"I literally pulled into my driveway and got out and was hysterical," she said.
Nathan Mark Buchanan, 37, appeared in Maroochydore Magistrates Court this morning charged with two counts of injuring animals and one count of discharging a weapon in public place.
His lawyer Gabe Hutchinson asked for an adjournment so the matter could be set down for a hearing.
Miss Carr and some friends were in court and waited out the front after Mr Buchanan's mention.
He emerged a few hours later and Miss Carr and her friends confronted him.
"It was pretty heated," Miss Carr said.
"I was shaking."
Buchanan's matters are next due for mention on October 14.
