More than 320g of ice seized by police

DRUGS thought to be worth more than $100,000 have been seized by police from a South Mackay home.

Mackay Criminal Investigation Branch detectives executed a search warrant on Wednesday at a house in Patton St, where they allegedly found methamphetamine (ice) and more than $8000.

Mackay CIB Senior Sergeant David Tucker said it would be alleged more than 328 grams of ice had been found

That amount has an approximate street value of more than $100,000, he said.

Arnold Di Carlo, 41, of Sarina faced Mackay Magistrates Court on a series of drug charges yesterday . He was denied bail and remanded in custody.

He will face court again on March 7.

Two others will face charges at a later date.

Snr Sgt Tucker said it was a "significant seizure, especially for Mackay"

He said there would be an investigation into the amount of drugs, and whether they were intended for supply.

"There's certainly could be (other charges on the table)," he said. "I won't rule them out.

"Something like this will form part of a larger investigation, given the amount, given the street value, it's a very substantial seizure.

"It is certainly well in excess of what we would normally seize as what's known as 'personal use'.

"We're very happy that these drugs are off the street."
