More than 150 garage sales registered on the trail

THE Bundaberg region has rocketed in to the Garage Sale Trail's top 10 council areas in Australia with more than 150 sales registered to take part.

The Garage Sale Trail, being held tomorrow (October 24), encourages residents throughout Australia to hold a garage sale on the same day.

Bundaberg Regional Council's waste and recycling spokesman Vince Habermann said he was thrilled with the response from residents.

"It is wonderful to see so many residents throwing their support behind this community event," Cr Habermann said.

"The goal of the Garage Sale Trail is to promote reuse and recycling of valuable resources and help to ensure that those resources don't end up in landfill before their time.

"This is a terrific outcome for council, the community and the environment."

The Bundaberg region is ranked seventh in Australia on the Garage Sale Trail leaderboard and fourth in Queensland behind Brisbane, Townsville and the Sunshine Coast.

Cr Habermann encouraged those residents interested in bagging a bargain to head to www.garagesaletrail.com.au and take advantage of the region's biggest day of garage sales.

"There is region-wide participation in this event and there's no doubt that there will be plenty up for grabs," he said.
