Michael Jackson tribute set to be a thriller
THEY may not be old enough to remember the time when Michael Jackson was at his peak, but Kepnock State High School students have put together their own tribute for him at the their annual arts night tonight.
The night will feature dance, dramatic pieces, animation, the school band, the choir, soloists and short films.
“People can expect entertainment and surprises — there are a lot of surprises,” said Year 10 student Storm Green, who is participating in the Zombies versus the Nerds dance.
Storm and her classmates, like a majority of the students participating, choreographed the dance over the third term and have spent the past few weeks perfecting it.
Kepnock State High School teacher Taryn Harley said the students had been looking forward to the night, which was the biggest of the year for the arts department, since the beginning of the year.
“A couple of weeks in, the kids start asking what we were doing for arts night,” she said.
Ms Harley said the school encouraged students to do as much as possible for the show.
“Op shops are good (for costumes) and I rolled around on the ground to get the dirt,” Year 10 student Amy Bretherton said.
Ms Harley said the night would be catered with nibbles and snacks provided by the school’s hospitality students.
The showcase will be held at the Kepnock State High School hall from 6.30pm with tickets $4.
