Mental health awareness events

A NUMBER of events will be held across the Wide Bay this week to raise community awareness of mental health issues.

Mental Health Week started on Sunday and continues throughout the week.

Bundaberg will host a barbecue lunch today at Alexandra Park between 10am and 1pm, and members of the public are encouraged to participate.

Stress Less Day will be held tomorrow and is the main event for the week, which aims is to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and wellbeing in the wider community, to increase awareness and education about mental health issues, and to encourage participation in life-enhancing lifestyles.

Community groups aim to increase knowledge and community education about mental health issues, foster a more supportive and informed attitude to those who live with mental illness and bring attention to the challenges of living with a mental illness while encouraging participation in healthy lifestyle strategies.
