Men to face 11 charges in court

TWO men will face Bundaberg Magistrates Court charged with 11 counts of break and enter.

The charges were laid on Friday after investigations into a string of break-ins last week.

Three chemists, a newsagency and several Burnett Heads businesses were broken into during the crime spree, with more than $12,000 worth of cash, cigarettes, and lotto tickets stolen at one Targo Street business.

Three businesses were also hit overnight on Thursday at North Bundaberg.

Bundaberg Police Criminal Investigations Branch Detective Sergeant Ben Fadian said a 35-year-old Bundaberg man was charged with eight counts of break and enter.

A second Bundaberg man, aged 29, was charged with three counts of break and enter.

“There is an ongoing investigation for a third person believed to be involved,” Det Sgt Fadian said.

He said the men were arrested on Friday evening, about 12 hours after the crimes were reported.

“We executed a search warrant at a Bundaberg house, which led us to recover some of the property stolen from a newsagency,” Det Sgt Fadian said.

The men were bailed to appear at Bundaberg Magistrates Court at a later date.

Investigations are continuing.
