CRICKET: From retirement to a Tallon Medal, it has been an incredible year for Norths Todd McNamee.

On Friday night McNamee won the highest honour in Bundaberg cricket by taking out the best player in division one ahead of teammates Matt Frost and Kye Leggett, who were runners-up.

He was rewarded for his season in which he took 33 wickets at an average of 11.39, including three in last week's final as Norths won over The Waves.

Surprised to win, McNamee admitted he only played this year because of his son.

"I only came back after a few years to play with Connor (McNamee),” he said.

"It allowed me to play with no pressure and I played well.”

He said the award would not have been possible without his team.

"There were so many involved at Norths that helped us win a few premierships,” he said.

"It was a team effort that helped me to have this success.”

In other results on the night The Waves' Sean Stuchbery won the division two player of the year, with Brothers players Aaron Kelly and Mitchell Parsons sharing division three.

Dean Krebs was awarded senior representative player of the year, with Leggett winning the under-19 award.
