‘I’ll headbutt someone’: Verstappen’s rage at presser

RED BULL young gun Max Verstappen has told reporters he's ready to 'headbutt' someone if he is continuously asked about his reputation for crashing.

The 20-year-old faced a tense press conference on Thursday ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix - two weeks after he planted his car into a Monaco wall during practice and was forced to start the race from back of the grid.

Verstappen swiftly lost his patience at the line of questioning after one reporter asked: 'Why have you had so many accidents?

'I don't know. And, like I said in the beginning of this press conference, I get really tired of all the questions, so… yeah… I think if I get a few more I'll headbutt someone,' Verstappen responded.

But despite the threat of violence, reporters weren't willing to let the issue go.

One journalist told Verstappen 'it seems a legitimate question to ask' him because of the regularity of crashes throughout his career - particularly this season.

He has either crashed, spun or been involved in a racing incident in all six of this season's opening Grands Prix.

The Red Bull protege disagreed, saying he didn't think it was a fair question because he believes he was only at fault in two of the incidents.

He added: 'It's not that dramatic as people say it is. Of course, I haven't scored the points which I should have scored but that was not only my fault.

"Could have been better, but everybody makes it so dramatic."

Despite showing pace over one-lap, Verstappen has continuously struggled in races this season and currently sits in sixth in the driver standings.

He has just 35 championship points, 37 behind his Australian teammate Daniel Ricciardo, and 75 behind leader Lewis Hamilton.
