LEAGUE: In a coup for the Eastern Suburbs Rugby League club they have signed Mat Templeman as their coach for next year's Bundaberg Rugby League season.

After coaching Past Brothers to the semi-finals of this year's competition, the six time premiership player has now joined the oldest club in the competition.

The announcement, made tonight by the Magpies, ends a two year coaching reign at Past Brothers for the 32-year-old who helped guide the team to the 2015 BRL premiership with a win over Hervey Bay.

Announcing the move on their official Facebook page, Easts said Templeman brings experience and the ability capable of leading the side to great things next year.

They added the Magpies looked forward to the future and challenges ahead with their new coach.

Templeman will take over from previous coach Alan Herbert with his first task aimed at signing players that will get the team in the finals for the first time since 2014.

In further good news for the club Mat's brother Jason has also joined the club and will provide assistance to the club in a similar role to the one he did at Past Brothers.

At this stage it is unclear who will coach Brothers with the club expected to announce someone before the end of year.

More to come.
