Masters to show their tricks
ALFICIONADOS of the gentlemen's game have the opportunity to see a squad of former greats ply their trade at an exhibition match in Kingaroy.
The Queensland Bulls Masters will roll into the South Burnett today as part of a regional tour of the state.
Queensland Bulls Masters general manager and former Australia Test batsman Jimmy Maher will captain a team including Andy Bichel, Martin Love, Carl Rackemann, Michael Kasprowicz and former rugby league great Alfie Langer.
“We've got a team of talented cricketers who have a genuine interest in the game and who want to help promote it on a regional level,” Maher said.
The all-star ensemble will play the South Burnett Invitational XI, which has been picked by officials especially for the event.
While the former greats have not been immune to the sands of time, Maher warned his team would bring a high standard of cricket to the clash.
“Some of the guys may be a few years older and a little greyer but they still know how to play,” he said yesterday.
Also on the itinerary for the Bulls Masters will be coaching clinics in Blackbutt and Cherbourg and a dinner in Wondai.
The Queensland Bulls Masters will play the South Burnett Invitational XI at Lyle Vidler Oval tomorrow at 6pm.
