Comment: Market is just what Bundy needs

Comment: THERE aren't many things that will get me out of bed early on a Saturday morning.

But I had to say the lure of a farmers' market did manage to do the trick.

For a long time a farmers' market has been discussed among locals, with some saying it was a great and much-needed idea while others argued there was a market already and no one would go to another one.

Well the massive turn-out at the weekend should have been enough to prove all the naysayers wrong.

There was barely room to wiggle as locals flocked in droves to pick up fresh foods from around the region.

It was just really pleasant to see produce that didn't look like it had been sitting in storage somewhere.

It's not that we don't have that already; there's a lot of fresh produce at the Shalom market, local stores and around roadside stalls.

But having all these growers showcasing their delicious products in the one place was particuarly special.

Hopefully we will see more farmers' markets.
