MORE than half-a-million dollars of marijuana has been seized after police allegedly found 229 drug plants during a raid.

Bundaberg Police Criminal Investigations Branch Officer in Charge Detective Senior Sergeant Joe Hildred said officers swooped on a number of properties on Wednesday morning.

"Five search warrants were executed in the Gin Gin area and, as a result, nine offenders have been prosecuted in relation to the possession of dangerous drugs," Det Snr Sgt Hildred said.

"At a Hillview Crt address, 229 cannabis plants were located."

Three alleged offenders were taken into custody in relation to producing and possessing dangerous drugs.

"Members of the Maryborough Tactical Crime Squad attended Gin Gin and assisted Bundaberg Detectives in executing search warrants at these addresses," Det Snr Sgt Hildred said.

"Conservatively speaking, a cannabis plant you're looking at about $2500 potentially.

"The cannabis plants that were seized ranged from 30cm to a metre tall."

The marijuana plants have been seized and are being retained in a police holding facility and will later be destroyed.

Three people were also charged with possessing dangerous drugs and drug utensils after an Albany St address was raided.

Two more people, one at Settlement Rd and another at Biers Rd were each charged with possessing dangerous drugs and utensils.

One man was also charged with possessing a weapon when his Duckpond Rd house was raided.
