Man’s epic revenge on ‘vile’ boss

The former communications manager of a UK politician has hijacked the MP's own public Twitter account to resign spectacularly.

Ex-staffer Gareth Arnold has claimed responsibility for the series of tweets that were published on his former boss Sheffield Independent MP Jared O'Mara's platform earlier today.

"Comms Team signing off … forever: Jared, you are the most disgustingly morally bankrupt person I have ever had the displeasure of working with. You do not care about your constituents. You do not care about anyone but yourself," the first tweet reads.

"I cannot and will not defend you and your vile, inexcusable contempt for the people who voted you in. You selfish, degenerate p***k.," Mr Arnold posted next.

He followed it up with: "My fear is that now (as I quit) the rest of the staff will leave and once again you will close your office and stop helping anyone but still take your wages until you have the decency to call a by-election.

"Leaving constituents desperate for representation again. No matter if they are having their homes taken away, their liberties disgraced or being deported because of your inaction."

He finished up by saying Mr O'Mara's constituents "deserve so much better than you" and the MP has "wasted opportunities which people dare not to even dream of".

The thread ended with Mr Arnold handing in his notice.

"Consider this my resignation. Thanks, Gareth Arnold."

However, Mr Arnold continued the attack on his boss on his own Twitter account and made a number of new claims about his conduct.

But he said he was motivated to post the tweets because "All I want is for Sheffield Hallam to have an MP that cares about them".

"Was it the best way to go about it? Well, I'll find out. Did I exhaust every single avenue possible before I did it? Yes, for many weeks. It's not fair on the people who have serious casework who need help and it's not fair on Sheffield Hallam," he continued.

Mr O'Mara, 37, has made headlines in the past.

In 2017 he won his seat after beating former deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, and last year he quit the UK's Labour Party after allegedly posting several misogynistic and homophobic comments on the internet.

Many Twitter users praised Mr Arnold for speaking out.

"Seriously well-played my man," one Twitter user wrote, while another posted: "Gareth, I salute you brother. Given you some cr@p in the past......but, damn this is a class way to go out. And, as a constituent of Mr O'Mara.....we already knew he was not good. Be well."

However, others, such as MP Jess Philips, questioned Mr Arnold's method and argued Mr O'Mara seemed to be in need of "help".

"On the Jared O'Mara stuff, I'm sure he is an awful MP and probably not a good boss, but it sounds to me like he's really unwell and deserves help," she wrote.

So far, Mr O'Mara has not responded publicly to the scandal.
