Man who stole car assisted police by leaving licence behind

POLICE are confident of tracking down the man who stole a four-wheel drive on Sunday morning - he left his drivers licence in the car.

A Bundaberg Police spokesman said the care was stolen from an address in North Bundaberg between 6am and 9am today.

The theft was reported to police when witnesses who happened to be friends of the owner saw the car being driven away from the other side of the river.

There were at least three people in the car when it was stolen, and it was taken off road.

We've got his name and address, so it won't be hard finding him.

The car was eventually found by police in a four-wheel drive at the end of Pattinsons Rd on Paddy's Island.

Two people who were found at the car were arrested and were being held at the Bundaberg police station yesterday.

The man who was believed to have been the driver of the car had fled, leaving behind his licence.

"We've got his name and address, so it won't be hard finding him," the police spokesman said.

The place where the car was found was still being treated as a crime scene late yesterday.
