Man mauled saving woman from vicious dog attack

A Toowoomba has been praised for his heroic actions fighting off two dogs when they attacked him and attempted to attack another woman.

Phill Shaw was standing on the corner of Taylor and Wyalls Sts about 7pm last night when he said he was attacked by two big black dogs.

Mr Shaw said he was able to fight the dogs off but then they set upon a woman who was walking along Taylor St. He was able to chase them away from her.

A spokesperson from the Queensland Ambulance Service said they were called to an incident in a public space at Taylor St about 7.03pm to a person with an injury to the finger who was transported to Toowoomba Hospital.

Mr Shaw received minor injuries and had to receive stitches.

He took to Facebook to warn others about the dogs who continued along the street last night.

Mr Shaw said the dogs were very dangerous and would seriously hurt a woman or child.
