POLICE are investigating an alleged attack at a Dululu property in which a 30-year-old man was stabbed seven times on Monday night.

Gladstone CIB Detective Sergeant Chris Lindsay confirmed police attended a residence on the corner of Dee St and the Burnett Hwy about 8.45pm.

Det Sgt Lindsay said a 30-year-old male and a 22-year-old female were outside the front gate of the property when they became involved in a verbal altercation with a 59-year-old man in a car.

"As a result, the 59-year-old allegedly stabbed the 30-year-old," Det Sgt Lindsay said.

"The (alleged) offender hasn't been charged at this stage.

"As a result of the investigation, a vehicle was seized and the 59-year-old man is co-operating with police.

"Investigations are ongoing."

A close friend of the victim, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, claimed the 30-year-old man was stabbed four times in the arm and three times in the chest.

"He was taken to Rockhampton Base Hospital," he said.

"He hates the bloke for what he (allegedly) did. He just couldn't believe it was happening.

"At the time he said he didn't even feel it.

"He's alright at the moment, he's out of hospital but one wound was so deep it severed an artery in his arm and required 32 stitches inside and another 32 outside."

The friend claimed the incident happened while the 30-year-old was doing a good deed for a mate.

"The only reason he was at the address was because his mate couldn't get home to lock his front gate, so he went to do it for him," he claimed.

The Bulletin understands police intend to charge the 59-year-old alleged offender in coming days.
