Man killed crossing motorway, major delays expected

A MAN has died after he was hit by two cars on the M1, causing significant traffic delays in southbound lanes this morning.

At around 6.20am the man, believed to be in his 60s, was struck by two vehicles after he walked onto southbound lanes of the highway.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two drivers of the vehicles were taken to Gold Coast University with non-life-threatening injuries.

The right lane was closed after the crash which happened between the Smith Street Motorway and Gold Coast Highway exits.

Traffic is banked up by more than 20km.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
