Man jailed over shoelace attack on stranger

A Queensland man who used a shoelace to try to strangle an Afghan refugee in Adelaide has been jailed for at least six years.

David John Pearce was found guilty of attempting to murder Abdolhadi Moradi, 28, on a footpath in January 2018.

The 37-year-old approached his victim from behind, wrapped the shoelace around his neck and dragged him to the pavement, as Mr Moradi struggled to free himself and eventually lost consciousness.
