Kalkie man causes cuts on wife

A KALKIE man who caused cuts to his wife’s eye faced court charged with breaching a domestic violence order on Thursday.

The 35-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was sitting with his wife in the lounge room of their home when a fight started over a credit card debt on April 23.

The defendant’s lawyer Allan Keleher said the argument escalated to a physical struggle and the woman hit her head.

“He was shocked by what happened... and they separated as a result,” he said.

The pair had reconciled since the incident and were going to therapy.

The court was told the man had no criminal history.

Magistrate John Smith fined the 35-year-old $350 and a conviction was not recorded.
