Man, woman hospitalised after stabbing at Redbank Plains

UPDATE NOON: A man and woman are in hospital with stab wounds from a vicious incident which occurred after a birthday party at a home west of Brisbane.

A 54-year-old woman was found by paramedics unconscious with a knife in her chest and surrounded by a pool of blood at a home in Redbank Plains about 2:00am

She also had lacerations to the head.

"It's one of those scenes where nothing's good," Acting Senior Sergeant Craig Marshall said.

A 60-year-old man also had cuts to his face and what Sergeant Marshall said were defensive-type cuts to his body.

8AM: A CRIME scene has been declared for parts of Waxberry Court and Burrawang Street in Redbank Plains after a man and woman were discovered with injuries early this morning.

Initial investigations suggest at 1.55am, police arrived at a Burrawang Street address where they discovered a 54-year-old woman with a stab wound to the chest and a laceration to the head, and a 60-year-old man with multiple lacerations and a head injury.

The pair was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

At this stage, the circumstances which led to the injuries are unclear.

Investigations are continuing.
