Business has sights on $2m Paget expansion

LINKED Group Services wants to invest about $2million on a new industrial facility in Paget.

Jason Sharam and Peter Shaw have submitted a development application to Mackay Regional Council to turn the 3791sqm lot at 174-176 Maggiolo Dr into a state-of-the-art off-the-grid headquarters.

Their business, now at Racecourse, is growing.

The first stage of the expansion, which could be finalised as early as February, is a 'solar carport', that electric vehicle owners would use to recharge for a gold coin donation.

Other additions include an office, showroom and shed, while the next stage plans include a workshop and more office space.

"We've already taken on some new staff and we're really squashed in. We can't wait for the new space," Mr Sharam said.

"We employ about 50 to 70 people a week. In the last 12 months we've taken on probably 30 to 40 people. We've grown in a downturn, substantially."

Mr Shaw said the move will allow the group to better compete with companies across Australia.

Linked Electrical started in 2010, providing contractors to mines in Australia.
