Kyogle groups developing ideas to improve their community

THE Kyogle Tidy Towns Committee has been meeting regularly throughout the year, working with other organisations in the town to try to create a more vibrant community.

Kyogle Tidy Towns, together with the Chamber of Commerce and Council, have acquired a banner, which is now in place across Summerland Way, promoting the town.

Organisations can request to use advertising space on the banner to promote a major activity.

The Farmers' Market continues to operate each Saturday and funds from this have been donated to Find your Music Group - Gugin Guduba, Kyogle Historical Society, The Toonumbar Dam Fishing Club for the purchase of fingerlings to restock the dam, and buskers who provide entertainment at the market.

If you would like to book stall space at the markets, contact Anne on 6632 1851 or Rupert 0403 628 292.

Remember the charity stall is available to any organisation wishing to raise funds, but bookings are essential.

In August several of the town's features were nominated for the Sustainable Communities Awards and Keep NSW Beautiful has indicated that one or more of the nominations were successful.

Businesses are advised the Christmas window (premises) competition is on again, so be prepared.

Tidy Towns is again joining with the Chamber of Commerce to sell raffle tickets for a Christmas hamper. There are great prizes to be won, so if you see someone wearing a pink shirt and selling raffle tickets, please stop and buy one.

Tidy Towns is currently negotiating with the council about the placement of a barbecue in Anzac Park, in the vicinity of the children's playground. We will also be putting together another set of postcards for the town

To become a member, meetings are held the second Thursday of the month at 5pm at the cinema.

If you have an idea that you think would improve our town, please drop us a note to Tidy Towns PO Box 50 Kyogle or email cheviot@iprimus.com.au.
