Lots of fun and money raised
FIONA'S Family Fun Day was deemed a great success after raising more than $4000 to help Fiona Ward have life changing medical procedure which is not available in Australia.
Mrs Ward has multiple sclerosis (MS) and the family is raising $100,000 to go to Mexico.
Mrs Ward was diagnosed with MS five years ago and as the disease progressed it forced her into early retirement from Queensland Police.
The race day was held at Thabeban Park on Saturday and invited all of the community to jump on board and help the family out.
Team Fiona member Sandra Reeves said despite the wind - the sun was shining and everyone had fun and enjoyed themselves.
"There was a togetherness about the day," Mrs Reeves said.
"It was really beyond our expectations.
"The kids ran riot and everyone had a great time.
"I have four children and had no worries about them because the community was all together and kept an eye on the little ones."
Mrs Reeves said there were different people from all areas of Fiona's life who attended and gave support.
She said the next big event planned to help raise money would be a high tea which would be held in the new year.
"Lots of people who weren't able to attend because of Christmas parties or other arrangements approached me and asked when the next event is," Mrs Reeves said.
With the funds raised at the weekend the Ward Family will have under $25,000 left to raise to meet their goal.
