So much to dance about at festival
PREPARE to lose yourself to rhythm.
A young group of Brazilians living in Brisbane playing sounds from their homeland, Som de Calcada translates to "sounds from the sidewalk/footpath".
This is a fitting tribute to their exotic, hypnotic sound, featuring an acoustic mixture of old and new MPB (Musica Popular Brasileira).
There's also Forro (a more tropical, folkloric sound which has a similar feel to reggae), plus the samba - the most well-known rhythmic style.
The ensemble comprises acoustic guitar, horns, and light Brazilian percussion.
