For the love of animals

ANIMAL lover Peter Weller knows every little bit counts especially when it comes to RSPCA Awareness Week, donating 20 bags of cat litter to the RSPCA Bundaberg Shelter.

“I thought I could help build spirit and get a bit of awareness for the week,” the Ultimate Fencing and Construction owner said.

The donation half-filled Mr Weller's ute as he dropped the mound of litter to the shelter.

RSPCA Bundaberg Shelter manager Vicki Beer said every donation was priceless to them, especially coming into the warmer months as more and more kittens get dropped off at the shelter.

The donation was in the spirit of RSPCA Awareness Week started on October 1 and runs until October 8.

“It is just making people aware of who we are and what we do,” Mrs Beer said.

“They get a glimpse inside the RSPCA and hopefully become aware that we stand for all creatures great and small.

During the week volunteer doorknockers will be collecting money to help care for the 41,000 animals the organisation looks after in Queensland.

“People can also raise money on the internet by creating a fundraising page,” Mrs Beer said.

RSPCA Awareness Week will be followed by the national fundraising day on Happy Tails Day next Saturday.
