Long winning streak continues for EPL leaders

MANCHESTER City have extended their winning run in the English Premier League to 16 games with a 4-1 thumping of Spurs.

The win put City 14 points clear of Manchester United at the top with United playing West Brom overnight.

Ilkay Gundogan opened the scoring at Eastlands inside 15 minutes but the home team had to wait until 20 minutes from full-time to add a second through man of the match Kevin De Bruyne.

Raheem Sterling then grabbed a double in the last 10 minutes before Christian Eriksen's consolation goal in injury time.

It was a good day for Socceroos midfielder Aaron Mooy, who scored twice in Huddersfield's suprise 4-1 win at Watford.

Fellow Aussie Mat Ryan also starred, making six saves in Brighton's 0-0 draw with Burnley.

Mesut Ozil scored with a fine strike as Arsenal toiled to a 1-0 victory over struggling Newcastle, while Christian Benteke ended a 13-game goal drought for Crystal Palace as they moved up to 14th and out of the relegation zone in a shock 3-0 victory at Leicester.

Marcos Alonso's pinpoint free-kick gave Chelsea a 1-0 victory over Southampton.

Stoke slumped to a fifth EPL defeat in six games with West Ham's Marko Arnautovic scoring against his old club in a 3-0 win.
