Locals leap back into the winner's circle

RACING: Bundaberg's Darryl Gardiner returned to the winner's circle in style at the Ulton Race Day at Thabeban Park on Saturday.

Winless at the last meet in July, the Haifa Bundy Cup, Gardiner bounced back to take out the MYOB open handicap (1090m) with Humanise.

The gelding, ridden by jockey Gemma Steele, won by almost eight lengths over French Flame and Girls Command.

It was a good day for Steele who also took out the NAB benchMark 50 handicap (1090m) with the Kaye Hill-trained Master Denrho.

The Gympie trainer was the only non-local winner on the day.

Bundaberg's Mary Hassam took out the Ulton Wealth Management benchmark 55 handicap (1600m) with Come by Often and Bundaberg's Lynette Petersen won with Uncanny Reason in the Morgans Class 3 Plate (1380m).

Eidsvold trainer Bob Murray won with Wujer in main race of the day, the Ulton Cup.

The next race meet is the Melbourne Cup Race Day on Tuesday November 7.
