Local turtle campaign up for national award
BUNDABERG North Burnett Tourism (BNBT) continues to attract national attention with one of the organisation's marketing campaigns listed as a finalist in the Australian Tourism Awards.
The annual awards recognise excellence in tourism and BNBT's 2013/2014 Turtle Campaign, already a winner in the Queensland Tourism Awards, is in line for national honours after being short-listed for best Destination Marketing campaign.
BNBT chairman Michael Owens said the campaign had achieved great results.
"This year we have already had over 16,000 local, state, national and international visitors experience the best up-close-and-personal encounter with turtles, guided by a great team of rangers, here at Mon Repos," Mr Owens said.
In a further boost to the region's tourism sector, Childers Eco Lodge was announced as a finalist in the New Tourism Development category and Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort is among the finalists in the Ecotourism
The Australian Tourism Awards will be announced in Adelaide on April 10.
