Local man rallies for charity

AFTER a successful charity drive at Agnes Water, resident Rodney Stanaway is hoping to do more for the environment.

Mr Stanaway held an RSPCA cupcake day, raising $1600 for the pet friendly service.

“The fundraiser was something else,” he said.

“We had every kid in the town come up and buy a cupcake.

“It was so successful that we are really hoping to do more in the coming year.”

He hopes to further the town’s environmental awareness and organise a seminar at the end of the year.

“I’m hoping we can preserve the lifestyle we have and the local environment,” he said.

Mr Stanaway, a baker, regularly visits national parks, which have inspired him to continue his fundraising efforts.

“The more you go there the more it becomes a part of your balance and make-up,” he said.

“It’s not a hard thing to get enthusiastic about it.”

Mr Stanaway will start talking to people to find out what is needed in the town.

He said a possible week of fundraising was just one of the ideas he had.

“I want to hear from people, even if they are just going to sell raffle tickets,” he said.

He hopes residents and businesses will become involved.

People interested in helping Mr Stanaway or who have any ideas are urged to contact him on 0427 139 433.
