Local girls tune up for heat of Miss V8 Supercars

TEN girls will strut their stuff on the runway tonight at the Rocky Glen Hotel in the second heat of the Miss V8 Supercars Competition.

Bringing extra sparkle and glamour to Australia's most renowned motor sport, the V8 Supercar Series, the girls will battle it out on the runway for a chance to compete in the regional finals on October 3 held at RG's.

Heat one contestant and finalist Amy-Lee Beard has only been modelling for a week.

"So far my experience has been very positive," she said.

"This is all new to me but making it past the first heat on my first go was pretty amazing."

The 20-year-old can't wait for tonight's event to get acquainted with the competition for the regional finals.

The winner of the regional finals will fly to Brisbane for the nationwide competition over a week in late October.

Up to 26 finalists from across Australia will compete in a variety of competitions, including official V8 Supercar parties, photo shoots and other activities.

The overall winner of the competition will win a cash pool prize of up to $20,000 and a V8 Action Illustrated Feature Magazine photo shoot.
