Ladies Open Carnival a success

THE Bundaberg Ladies Open Carnival, sponsored by Jubilee Homes and Globe Hotel, was a huge success on Sunday.

Consistent play and perhaps a bit of local knowledge helped Bundaberg win the Douglas and May Latham Shield.

Gross winner of the A-Grade competition was Nikita Thomas on 80, with Tina Sara taking out the B-Grade on 91 and Karen Thompson notching up a winning 97 in C-Grade.

Nett winner of the A-Grade competition was Miriam Newman on 71.

New member Kent Bird mastered the course on Saturday with 63 nett, 90 gross to take out the C-Grade Monthly Medal ahead of Philip Warren on 65.

In the A-Grade competition, Dean Pickup achieved a good score of 67 nett and managed to edge out John Hollands on 68. Dean also took out the gross with 75. B-Grade winner was Bruce Baker, with 66 nett, 82 gross, ahead of Arden Lankowski, 69 nett.

Bundy boys Warrick Peake, Des Turner, Darren Kylie and Lionel Bust had a great day at the Bargara Holden Scramble on Sunday winning with a nett score 63 ¾.

Coca Cola Day will be held Saturday so be sure to put your name on the timesheet in the pro shop.

The junior carnival is being staged Sunday with nominations closing today.

The Ladies' Holden Scramble will be held on Wednesday, September 22 with a shotgun start at noon.
