Local boy releases his debut album at colour

BUNDABERG'S Mitch Barrington will celebrate the release of his debut album, Breathe More Easily, with a local music extravaganza at Shalom College on Friday.

The former Shalom student has arranged nine local acts to perform at the school in the second Indie Colour festival of the year.

The last concert, the inaugural Indie Colour, showcased five local bands, including Barrington's own outfit.

“This is a lot bigger and the production will probably be better than last time,” Barrington said.

St Luke's Anglican School band Penguin Kings, Bundaberg State High School captain Luke Handley and guitarist Sean Wilson will return to the event, while Dreams of Escape, Mitch Pearce and i.Josiah will make their stage debuts.

They will be joined by beat boxer The Reks, veteran Mitch Yarrow and a mystery guest from the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Barrington said the event would highlight original emerging Bundaberg talent.

But it will also serve as the launch of his debut 12-track album, which he recorded in Brisbane this year.

With sponsorship from Belle Eden Developments, Coral Coast Pharmacies and Roofin Spot, Barrington was able to record in Brisbane's James North Studios.

The album will be available at the venue for $15 and at participating stores for $20.

More information about the album can be found online at www.mitchbarrington.com.
