Lizard book sales to be flat out
AUTHOR Coleen Heathwood has struck out on her own in her first venture into the publishing world.
Mrs Heathwood has produced a glossy book featuring photos of lizards she took herself and a poem about them.
Called Like a Lizard Lapping Dew, the book is mainly aimed at primary school-aged children.
But Mrs Heathwood said the book could be enjoyed by people of all ages.
“It's so lovely anyone can mull over it,” she said.
“I've had friends of mine who have read and re-read it.”
Mrs Heathwood said she had had 2000 copies printed, and the book was now available at Dymocks Bundaberg and at the Sugarland Post Office at a price of $14.95.
“That's my job now, to take it to more and more places,” she said.
“This is all a learning curve.”
Mrs Heathwood said she had written a lot of poetry but said that putting her first book together had taken “a long time”.
“Taking the photos took a while because the lizards went into hibernation,” she said.
“Then I had to go through and try to match the lines to the photos.”
