Bundy liquor store nears finish

WORKMEN are putting the finishing touches to the Dan Murphy's liquor store being built in Targo Street.

A spokesman for the Woolworths-owned Dan Murphy's said the plan was for the liquor superstore to be open before Christmas, which will pit it against rival superstore 1st Choice, in Tantitha Street.

The spokesman said the store would provide about 30 jobs, mostly for local people.

“We will offer roughly 4000 products, about two-thirds of which will be wine,” he said.

The spokesman said Dan Murphy's knew its customer base was made up of consumers who were a little older and who knew what they wanted.

“We train our staff to be really knowledgeable about our products,” he said.

Construction work on the outlet started in May after some houses on the site were removed.

The store will cover a floor area of 1415sq m, about a third to half the size of a standard grocery supermarket.
