Lights a winner ... but for last time
EVERY Christmas for the past 16 years, Anne Steadman has lit up children's faces as well as her street by adorning her front garden with bright lights and decorations.
This year, the efforts of the Christmas-obsessed grandmother have paid off.
Mrs Steadman's house took out first place in the Bundaberg Regional Council's Christmas Spirit Competition.
Ms Steadman, who has been collecting Christmas decorations "for a good 50 year, beat 42 other entrants to be crowned the overall winner of the annual competition.
She was also awarded first place in the Energy Efficiency and Best Christmas Lights categories.
But the 70-year-old Childers resident, who spends around five months of the year preparing her Christmas display, has hung her lights and ornaments up for the last time to take a break.
"I'm going to miss it," she said.
"It's lovely when the kids come and run through the garden. Nearly every night the kids come and have a look."
Members of the public are invited to visit Mrs Steadman's display at 86 Sunnybrae Circuit, Mahogany Park Estate, Childers.
