Life's a beach as days heat up

AFTER the Bundaberg region's colder-than-average December, summer has hit, with the mercury set to soar well into the 30s for at least the next week.

Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Brett Harrison said now would be a great time for holidaymakers to head to the region's beaches to cool off in the surf. But with UV pushing up to the extreme range, sun protection will be the order of the day.

Relief from the heat is expected towards the end of next week.
