Julie puts her hand up for Division 2

CHILDERS resident Julie Green has put up her hand up to run as a candidate for Division 2 at next year's election.

Living most her life in the Isis district, Ms Green said she felt Childers and the other small communities in the region were sadly being overlooked and had been left to fend for themselves.

"Our rural communities are the backbone of our country and they should be receiving more attention and support than they currently are," she said.

"My life skills have been gathered from being a wife, mother, banker, teacher aide, retail worker, JP, marriage celebrant and former committee member of several local organisations.

"In 2014, I fought the hardest battle of my life when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. This battle taught me the most valuable lessons and has completely changed my outlook on life.

"Life is to live. Don't sit on the sidelines. Get in there and have a go. Make it happen. That is what I am doing.

"It has always been a goal of mine to represent our incredible community.

"I want to listen, learn and work hard to be an effective councillor."
