Letters: Thank you Bundy from the Salvos

Letters: THE Salvos (as we are affectionately known) have always been out and about in local communities providing goods and support for as many people as possible.

To do this, we hold an annual fundraising appeal throughout May each year - The Red Shield Appeal.

With the help of many volunteers including school students we conduct a door knock collection throughout our district.

Like past years it was well supported by the community.

Also, a committee of local business people organise a lunch during the appeal to raise funds from the business community.

The event has grown over the years and this year raised a record amount- a little over $50,000.

Auswide Bank kindly agreed to be our major sponsor this year.

Gladstone Ports Corporation, operator of Bundaberg Port again supported the event through its community grants program.

May I take this opportunity to sincerely thank everyone who donated to our appeal for your support - a wonderful effort in these times when business and household budgets are challenged.

This support enables us to continue helping those in need in our community and for Tom Osborne and others at the Tom Quinn Community Centre to keep up their good work.
