THE Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) needs up to 29 district managers to oversee Queensland operations in the lead up to, and following, the 2016 Census of population and housing.

Head of the 2016 Census Program, Duncan Young said the Census would count close to 10 million dwellings and about 24 million people in Australia on Census night next year and this couldn't be done with the help from district mangers.
