Laughing all the way to Magic

RACING: Bundaberg will have plenty to cheer for today at the Magic Millions happening on the Gold Coast.

Owned by connections in Bundaberg, race horse Crack Me Up is one of the favourites for the Woodford Reserve Magic Millions Cup.

The horse is owned by Bundaberg Race Club members Chris Wessel, Tina Wessel, Russell Heritage, Dinah Aram and Mark McLean.

It is also the first race for the horse since claiming the Group 2 Inglis Villiers Stakes at Randwick last year.

It will also start the preparations for the gelding to race in the Doncaster Mile, which is the target of the owners and the trainer Liam Birchley.

Birchley told AAP the horse might struggle at the distance but the Magic Millions was too good to refuse.

"We decided to freshen him up and bring him back for the cup,” he said.

"The distance probably isn't ideal at this stage of his campaign but it is a million-dollar race.”

Crack Me Up will be rested after today to prepare for the Doncaster with Birchley saying it would be stupid not to enter him.

The Bundy horse is third favourite in betting with the gelding $6.50 to win on Ladbrokes and $2.35 for a place at time of writing.

The race starts at 2.30pm and will be on Channel 7.
