Altercation leads to car damage

A MAN, who threw two bottles at a woman's car after a late-night confrontation, fronted Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Monday.

Anthony Cecil Mairu, 22, of Bundaberg, pleaded guilty to one charge of wilful damage after the incident outside Hungry Tum on November 21.

Defence barrister Simon Burgess said his client threw the first bottle after one of the car's passengers stole some items from the shop and yelled “something quite disparaging” at the shop attendant.

After the first bottle was thrown, the driver then allegedly got out and threw punches at Mairu and ripped his shirt.

Mairu then threw the second bottle as the car drove away.

He was fined $360 and ordered to pay $230 restitution. No conviction was recorded.
