Langerak misses as Roos lose in opener

BUNDABERG'S Mitch Langerak was forced to watch from the bench as Australia lost 3-2 to Germany in the Confederations Cup on this morning.

The former The Waves player was overlooked for Mat Ryan, who was selected in goals for the opening match of the tournament.

And Ryan didn't disappoint, making crucial saves throughout the contest.

Germany took the lead early and then led 2-1 at half time after Tommy Rogic equalised.

Australia then conceded another goal after half time before a Tommy Juric strike gave the Asian Cup champions hope of a draw.

But the Roos were unable to find the net.

Australia now plays Cameroon at 1am on Friday.
