Ladies bowl over AGM

THE ladies section of the Gin Gin Bowls Club held its annual general meeting last week, which was chaired by the club's patron and committee chairman John Leather.

The club's publicity officer, Karyn Wastie, said the members were excited by the return of their long-serving patroness Joy Lewis, who now lives at Kolan Gardens.

"Joy has served the club for many years and in many capacities and so was given a worthy tribute by president Robyn for her dedication to the club and her helpfulness to new office bearers as patroness," she said. "This year due to her health she has decided to retire from the position."

Mrs Wastie said the club's president, Robyn Wedel, had thanked the ladies for their support at the meeting on Wednesday.

"In her report, games director Penny Sellers spoke about the changes to how the competitions were held, and how successful it had been with men joining the one-day mixed competitions of a Wednesday," she said.

Elected members are patroness Elizabeth Purkis, president Robyn Wedel, senior vice president Barbara Dunstan, junior vice president Judy Davey, secretary Elizabeth Purkis, games director Penny Sellers, assistant games director Maree Wilkins, selectors Barbara Dunstan, Jenny Shaw and Maree Wilkins.
