Top three cruise through round in Three Cities League
THE gap between the haves and have-nots grew wider after the weekend's games in the men's Three Cities League with easy wins to ladder-topping teams United Park Eagles, Across The Waves and Brothers Aston Villa.
United Park Eagles flogged Tinana 10-0, Across The Waves belted Diggers 7-0 and Brothers fought fatigue and a defensive opposition to win 4-0 against Alloway.
Bingera went down to United Warriors in Hervey Bay 4-1. The Warriors controlled the game, and despite missing a few chances on goal were comfortable winners.
In the women's Three Cities League, Bingera started its title defence with a solid 3-1 win over United Warriors in Hervey Bay. Goals to Madelyn McCracken, Katrina White and Mel Sergiacomi were enough to get the three vital points.
United Park Eagles flew home with a 1-0 win over Brothers Aston Villa at Martens Oval. Teenage goal-scoring sensation Rebecca Goulding found the back of the net in the second half to secure the win.
Meanwhile, Villa found the going tough this week after playing in the NewsMail Cup semi-final during the week against United Park, which it won 5-3, and coach Tim Lunnon said the tests would keep coming with the game against ATW this week.
He said the game would be a good gauge on where his team was compared to one of the best in the competition.
