Labor candidate for Hinkler announced

BUNDABERG human services consultant Leanne Donaldson will be the Labor Party's candidate for Hinkler in this year's federal election after being preselected for the seat.

Ms Donaldson has spent the past decade working for the State Government and private sector in areas including child protection, family law, foster care and training.

"I will be working very hard to ensure that Labor provides a strong voice for the people of Hinkler to represent the interests of all our communities in the Federal Parliament," she said.

"As a worker and a mother, I am now taking up the fight for local people on local issues."

The Burnett Heads mum said she was concerned about the job cuts in Wide Bay by the State Government, and said she feared there could be more under Tony Abbott.

"With the floods we have suffered across our region, it is beyond belief that the state LNP and federal Coalition are turning their backs on working people," she said.

ALP state secretary Anthony Chisholm said Labor was proud to endorse such an excellent local candidate who was passionate about delivering for the people of Hinkler.
