Know where to go for industry help

BUNDABERG’S bad backpacker reputation is keeping Ready Workforce employees busy.

The company sees more than 20 backpackers each day seeking advice on the fruit and vegetable industry.

Branch manager Vanessa Aplitt said she has seen plenty of worried travellers seeking advice on pay and rights.

“We have a lot of backpackers come in who have heard about the problems in Bundaberg and are worried about working here,” she said.

“We are here to help backpackers find work and give advice on any problems or worries they are having.”

Ready Workforce is also available to help farmers find employees and provide information on their rights and obligations.

“Things have changed a lot over the years and we are certainly happy to help workers and farmers seeking advice,” Ms Aplitt said.

“We are here to provide support wherever we can.”
