Kleinschmidt in squad for Champions Trophy

HOCKEY: It could be a historic month for Bundaberg's Aaron Kleinschmidt.

The Kookaburra has been named in an 18-man Australian squad for the Champions Trophy in the Netherlands.

Kleinschmidt has retained his place after helping the side to gold at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.

Australia will play Netherlands, Argentina, Belgium, India and Pakistan at the tournament, with the Kookaburras the number one team in the world.

The Kookaburras will be looking to win their 15th title at the Trophy, which will be the last, with a new Hockey Pro League coming in next year.

Australia plays its first match against Belgium in the tournament from June 23 to July 1.
