Kingaroy a vegan friendly small town

KINGAROY has made the list as one of the top three ranking vegan friendly small towns in Australia.

Already known for peanuts, Kingaroy earned its top-three ranking with at least five vegan-friendly food stops.

One of the stand-out meals available for vegans in Kingaroy, according to PETA, is the facon and cheese pies at The Giving Tree Cafe, along with the rest of its menu.

Also at the top of the list are the stuffed potatoes at Magpies, the range of vegan curries at Singh's Royal Cuisine, the stir fried vegetables at Explorers Restaurant and the vegan selection patte at TASTE South Burnett.

And if you have a sweet tooth, you're missing out if you don't take a peek inside the cake cabinet at The Giving Tree Cafe.

According to PETA, research has found more than 11% of the population is now vegetarian, and more than half of Aussies agree that they're "eating less red meat these days".

Australia is also the third fastest-growing market in the world for vegan packaged food, and according to Google Trends, Australians search for vegan more than any other nation.

PETA associate director of campaigns Ashley Fruno said Kingaroy proved small towns did not have to miss out when it came to dishing up delicious vegan meals.

"Businesses here realise that it's always the vegan who chooses where the group eats," she said.

Rounding out the top three vegan-friendly small towns are Castlemaine in Victoria and Denmark in Western Australia.

Restaurants and cafes aren't the only businesses vying for a slice of the vegan pie in Kingaroy, as supermarkets are also stocking up on delicious vegan chocolates, milks, and meats.

Vegans can also easily pick up fast food at Subway and Domino's in Kingaroy.
